Samak-e Ayyār is an ancient fictional story about an Iranian ayyār (a warrior who has courage and chivalry) first told orally by Sādaqa b. Abūl-Qāsim Shirāzi, then Collected and writting down by Farāmarz Ibn Khodādād Arrajāni in the 12th Century (6th Century AH).
Samak-e Ayyar is described as a popular romance, while some consider it an epic. The present article tries to analyze Samak-e Ayyār by taking into account the two literary genres, romance and epic.
